Cuandixia is under a mountainous area of west Beijing, which is 90 km from downtown. It is an ancient village of Ming dynasty. The village has preserved nearly 100 intact houses since Ming and Qing dynasty. After the 1990s, the village was first favored by artists and became a well-known photography, painting and sketching camp. Since the homestay tourism is gradually flourishing, the development of the surrounding villages has been stimulated. The area has formed homestay tourism clusters with Cuandixia village as the core of it. Hundreds of courtyards between Ming and Qing dynasty, more than 900 homestays attracted more than 400,000 visitors each year for dining, lodging, partying. Along with the over a 100 million revenue, the region’s ecological load increases year by year.
GGTC will organize a team of experts to diagnose the ecological load at the region, and design pattern to achieve the “zero-waste” and “low-carbon” core goals. Taking data of October 1, 2020 as an original, in three years, the region will reach hazard-free treatment rate of domestic garbage more than 85%, utilization rate of 55%, carbon emissions reduced to 50% of the original data. GGTC will also assist the region to apply an international low-carbon living model community to UNEP.
Supported by the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute and the government of Huishan district, GGTC fosters strengths and circumvents weaknesses, exploring in a project-nurturing-research mode, actively promoting green technology, ecological community design, low-carbon and sustainable development consulting. Within close cooperation of World Wildlife Fund (WWF), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), GGTC has recruited an international team of 20 experts.
